A new International Technology Strategy has been published by the United Kingdom with a plan to become a technology superpower by 2030.
At the London launch, the Foreign Secretary and the Science, Innovation, and Technology Secretary discussed how the UK will capitalize on the strength of our technology sector, which is already Europe’s largest and the third most valuable in the world, behind China and the United States.
The Integrated Review Refresh, which came out this past week, found that authoritarian regimes are using technology as a tool of oppression, which has far-reaching effects on the safety and prosperity of the British people.
The UK’s alternative is outlined in the International Technology Strategy. The United Kingdom will shape the future of technology in a manner that promotes the positive use of technology, drives innovation and UK tech leadership, and increases our security from new and emerging threats, guided by four principles: openness, responsibility, security, and resilience.
Through international partnerships with established and emerging science and technology powerhouse nations, the UK government will collaborate closely with governments, academia, and industry to capitalize on the UK’s world-leading technological strengths.
One of his five priorities is expanding the economy, creating better-paying jobs, and expanding opportunities across the nation. Putting resources into our flourishing tech area will straightforwardly add to that. In 2022, the industry was worth $1 trillion, and our nation was home to over 85,000 scale-ups and start-ups. Last year, the UK’s tech industry attracted more investment than France and Germany combined, resulting in the creation and retention of high-quality jobs across the nation.
As stated by Foreign Secretary James Cleverly, the International Tech Strategy will promote the UK as a location for investment and collaboration in the technologies of the future. It will also strengthen our position on the international stage.
It is more important than ever for the UK to stand up to the evil forces that want to use technology against us and to promote British tech excellence worldwide.
We’ve announced this strategy to help us achieve our goal of becoming a tech superpower by 2030 by supporting UK businesses and assisting us in overcoming tomorrow’s challenges through innovation and international collaboration.

We are a top-class favorable place for arising tech, however being a superpower implies working with our worldwide accomplices to transform these early innovations into worldwide ventures.
Our International Tech Strategy will guarantee that we will intensify our collaboration with our allies on the technologies of the future, thereby boosting UK growth and prosperity and our national security.
Our most memorable tech agent, Joe White, has assisted with helping our binds with tech organizations in Silicon Valley. The UK will build the world’s most extensive tech diplomacy network by expanding our tech envoy and expertise network based on this success. We will use this as a platform to uphold our principles, challenge narratives of authoritarianism, and encourage international industry collaboration. Expertise from the tech industry will be brought by envoys, allowing them to contribute to strengthening the UK’s global leadership.
Our brand-new Technology Centre of Expertise will provide additional support for these objectives. These centers will bring together technology and digital experts from government, the private sector, and academia to assist nations in transforming their economies through innovation in a sustainable and inclusive manner. The first pilots will begin later this year.
The UK Science and Innovation Structure set out the desire for the UK to be universally perceived as a tech superpower by 2030. To tackle the urgent global challenges facing our planet through science and technology, we must work more closely with other leading nations to become a tech superpower. The efforts being made to establish those partnerships are outlined in the International Technology Strategy.
The United Kingdom will also collaborate with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Global Forum on Technology as part of the strategy to talk to the world about how to use technology more effectively. In addition, we will build on the UK’s success in obtaining a seat on the Council of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), collaborate with partners to improve global connectivity, and demonstrate clear leadership in the telecoms industry.
