The New iPhone 8 Battery Smaller Than iPhone 7 Battery

iPhone 8 Battery vs iPhone 7 Battery

The iPhone 8 is definitely superior to the iPhone 7 in all ways, except for the battery.  Reports out of China suggest that batteries are actually being downgraded.

The iPhone 7 has a 1,960mAh battery, but the iPhone 8’s battery is 1,821mAH.  There is a similar difference between the iPhone 8 Plus and the iPhone 7 Plus.  The latest version, the iPhone 8 Plus, will have a 2,675mAh battery, and the iPhone 7 Plus has a battery of 2,900mAh.

Apple has stated that both models should last about the same amount of time, and we know Apple is quite skilled in the development of software for battery optimization.   For many, though, who are not expecting downgrades in the latest models this might be a disappointment.

iPhone 8 Battery vs Other Competitors

The competition, such as Google and Samsung, has made battery size a priority.  The Galaxy S8 has a 3,000mAh battery and the battery in the S8 Plus is 3,500mAh.  The Pixel has 2,770mAh and the Pixel XL has 3,450mAh.

However despite these size differences the devices produced by Apple last about the same length of time.

So far, the quality of the iPhone hasn’t suffered. See the iPhone 8 new features.
