Qi Standard for Wireless Charging– What is it?
New technology is available that will allow some mobile phones to be charged over quite short distances without using a cable. The advantages of this are that it tends to be quicker and easier because you don’t need to plug and unplug your phone each time you want to charge it. You simply place your mobile device on a wireless charging pad. It is much neater because there are no cables.
There are different standards available for wireless charging. One of the most popular is Qi, which is pronounced as ‘chee’. Qi has been supported by several companies, including Samsung, Google, and Nokia. Today, many more manufacturers of mobile devices are using this new technology in some way.
Devices that are Compatible for Wireless Charging
Some mobile phones already have wireless charging built in. These include some models from Samsung, Microsoft, Google and Blackberry. For some other models, you need a rear cover replacement or case. Apple and Sony have devices in this category. However, even if there is no wireless charging cover available for your model, there is a universal adapter available, which allows even older devices to access this new technology.

If your mobile device doesn’t appear in the lists above, you will need a universal adapter and a wireless charger. These are available for phone that have Micro USB ports, such as Android, or Lightning Ports, such as are found on iPhones.

Once you know that your model of phone has a built-in wireless charger, or you have added it as an accessory, you will need a wireless charger.
There are many Qi chargers available. They come in different sizes, shapes, and colors. They can be set for your desk, your car, and there are portable battery packs available as well. There are many available on the market.
